Dr. Ajagbe

Dr. Oluwole Ajagbe


Dr. Oluwole Ajagbe, was a fulltime Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (Department of Diagnostic Services), of Howard University College of Dentistry (HUCD) in Washington, DC. He is an Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Dentistry. He graduated with a BDS degree from University of Ibadan School of Dentistry in 1980 and an MS degree from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1985. He received training in clinical researcher standardization and also training in Clinical Dental Research Methodology (Summer 1998) from University of Washington, Seattle.
He has received many awards and recognitions in teaching both undergraduate and graduate dental students and dental hygiene students since 1985.


He also had a part-time private dental practice for about 10 years while serving as a professor, clinical consultant and a researcher at HUCD dental clinic. He was the National Dental Association Foundation (NDAF) funded faculty advisor to Student Research Group (SRG) in Howard University. He supervised a Ph.D. candidate and participated as an examiner for the dissertation defense of the Ph. D. candidate. He also served as the Dental Director (1990-2002) for the National Minority AIDS Education & Training center funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).


Being technologically savvy, Dr. Ajagbe designed, configured and implemented the 41-station state-of-the-art multimedia center at the Howard University College of Dentistry thereby bringing an innovative digital approach to histology and pathology instructions.


He has served as the Chairman of the African American Health Initiative- Oral Health Coalition and a member of the AAHI Executive Board, been responsible for the past three years, meeting the needs of the underserved citizens, thereby reducing/eliminating the Oral health disparities that exist among the populations of the Montgomery County of Maryland. He received a 10-years funding for Montgomery County, Maryland to conduct Oral Cancer Screening Program, an intervention program for hard-core tobacco users from the Cigarette Restitution Funds.


Dr. Ajagbe has been dubbed a teacher of teachers by his students and professional colleagues, having designed and given hundreds of hours of provider trainings for Healthcare workers in addition to his faculty duties.
He applied for and received $1.5 million grant for 2003-2008, from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for Howard University College of Dentistry to participate in the Pipeline Project, a Community-based Dental Education.
Dr. Ajagbe has presented several scientific papers in many scientific conferences. He has also authored and co-authored many scientific articles in peer reviewed journals of national and international repute.


Dr. Ajagbe is currently running an implant surgery center where he is utilizing state-of-the-art equipment to accomplish great cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry. He is in the process of establishing a two campus multi million dollar “cutting edge” Creative Smile Institute, on the East coasts of the US with a tri facetted mission of education, services and product development and testing.


He is currently championing the cause of the “Forgotten” people of the world, seeking partners to give the peoples of the world “a second chance smile”. The “Forgotten” are those in the underdeveloped or developing countries of the world that have chronic dental conditions ranging from tooth decay, gum disease, missing teeth, and cancers of the mouth and the cancers of the jaw bones. Through the Second Chance Smile, a comprehensive Global Dental Outreach program, he hopes to truly put smiles on millions of faces through dental treatment and trainings.
